Yoga Teachers Sunshine Coast
At Yin Health we are fortunate to have a great team of teachers offering multiple yoga styles on the Sunshine Coast.
Our class sizes are small so individual attention is maximised. Here’s what a recent participant said:
“I’d tried yoga a few times before but had never really enjoyed it or ‘got’ why my friends raved about it. That was until I experienced a class at Yin Health. I found I really enjoyed the class and came away feeling relaxed and rejuvinated at the same time. Even though I had very little experience I was made to feel both welcome and comfortable in the class and was guided at each stage of the class. I can whole heartedly recommend Yin Yoga – in a single session it completely changed my view of what yoga was about and how much I could both benefit from it and enjoy it.
With thanks, Emma.”
Pregnancy Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Kids Yoga, Mums n Bubs yoga
Yoga has always been part of Melina’s life, watching her mother practice a few asanas at home. While studying Phys. Ed. at University Melina worked in a Project in a low socio-economic area, teaching dance to teenagers and their mums.
That’s when her journey through healing started. Melina looked for something more holistic that would help her to understand the connection between body, mind and spirit so she could pass that on to others. That’s when Melina started to practice Yoga.
She began practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa after she had her first baby and it became a real passion. Yoga helped Melina get through a lot of the difficulties and insecurities a first mum has.
She did a training course in Yoga Ayurvedic Massage in Brazil and when she moved to Australia, started a Teacher Training Course with My Health Yoga. Meanwhile Melina fell pregnant for second time. Practicing and studying Yoga while pregnant also gave her strength physically and psychologically to give birth to another beautiful baby.
This made Melina interested in teaching Yoga to other pregnant women to help them get their body and mind aware, focused and prepared to look after themselves in this life stage which is full of changes and surprises.
Ash set out on her Yoga journey whilst completing her degree in Marketing and while diving deep into the corporate world of Consulting and Advertising. With a busy and demanding career she was looking for a stress relief and ways to alleviate her chronic back pain. The day of her first Yoga class came and Ash still remembers how awkward she felt. However the spark was lit from day one and eventually Yoga transformed her life in the best possible way. On her journey, Ash was lucky to study with a number of very experienced and knowledgeable teachers around the world. She finally said her good-byes to her corporate career and traveled to India to complete her Yoga teacher training at the Himalayan Institute of Yoga. Ash is certified and accredited by the international Yoga Alliance to teach Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Meditation and Pranayama. Continuing on her journey Ash studied Ashtanga Yoga at the Melbourne school of Ashtanga and later on at the Berlin school of Ashtanga Yoga. She completed a teacher training with Manju Jois and also took several workshops with Nancy Gilgoff, Simon Borg-Olivier and Tomas Zorzo just to name a few. Ash also has a strong interest in Buddhism and is studying and practicing Buddhist Meditation since 2010.
As one of the millions of people that have greatly benefited from Yoga, Ash believes that the practice is for everyone and she encourages people from all ages, body types, genders and religions to try it.
Satyananda yoga for all ages, Pregnancy and Post natal yoga, Mums n bubs yoga, Kids yoga
My passions lie in empowering women of all ages and in all stages of their lives to find or regain their strength, flexibility and sense of connectedness. I enjoy reminding women the value of self-nurturing so that they once again realise that in taking care of and making time for themselves first, they will be better able to take care of and have time for others. This includes mind, body and spirit, which I relate to through the practices of yoga – asana, pranayama and meditation.
Over the years my studies have included a 2 yr Diploma of Satyananda Yoga, specialised training in prenatal and postnatal yoga, Mum’s & Bubs yoga, with additional qualifications in Infant Massage, pFilates (specialised pelvic floor instruction) as well as comprehensive Doula training.
I love helping women to take care of themselves as they prepare for the birth of their babies, to be there with them during the birth as a doula, helping them during the important task of post-natal recovery and gently reminding them once their children have left home the value of taking time for themselves. At all stages, in joining mind, body and spirit they become whole once again. The underlying theme through all my classes is ‘awareness’. This awareness quietens the mind bringing peace and clarity, which spills over into one’s daily activities. This, combined with regaining or retaining their fitness, improves quality of life.
